A prototyping lab for industrial AI

In January 2025, BiaTech opened a prototyping lab at Greentown Labs Houston, placing our product-development work inside a community focused on climatetech and energy innovation.

Field-ready workflows require physical integration

The move reflected an important reality about industrial AI: useful software must be developed with an understanding of the physical environment in which it will operate. A model may begin with data and code, but a field-ready workflow can also involve cameras, sensors, industrial communications, an edge computer, an enclosure, a worker interface, and connections to existing operational technology. Those components have to function together under real constraints.

The Greentown workspace gave BiaTech a practical setting for rapid prototyping and integration. Our team could assemble and test sensing configurations, evaluate edge-computing hardware, refine equipment visualizations, and connect the software experience with the way an operator, engineer, or inspector performs the work. It also created a place to demonstrate early systems and learn directly from industrial stakeholders.

Software-led architecture, edge-enabled when needed

This capability supports BiaTech’s central product strategy. BiaSense is a software platform, and recurring software subscriptions are the foundation of how we intend to scale. Edge equipment is used when it is the best way to deliver that software into a remote, latency-sensitive, bandwidth-constrained, or client-controlled environment. It is an enabler, not a requirement that every customer purchase a custom hardware system.

Where a client already has suitable sensors and local compute, BiaSense can connect with that infrastructure. Where a gap exists, BiaTech can provide a standardized edge deployment. This device-input and local-host flexibility allows a pilot to begin with the customer’s operating reality rather than a mandate to replace working systems.

Connecting product development with commercialization

Being part of Greentown Labs Houston also connected BiaTech with founders, researchers, investors, and corporate innovators working on the energy and industrial challenges that matter to the region. That proximity is valuable because commercialization depends on more than technical progress. It requires a clearly defined user, an urgent problem, a measurable KPI, and a practical path from a first pilot to a repeatable deployment.

The lab became a bridge between those commercial questions and the detailed engineering work needed to answer them—helping BiaTech move Physics AI from the screen and into the industrial workflow.
